I'm not so sure about that. I've jailbroken every version of the iPhone except the 4S , with every version of jailbreak software, and have never had a problem updating. At worst, one would have to put the iPhone into DFU mode and restore. I finally stopped jailbreaking only because Apple has everything in iOS now that I was jailbreaking for in the first place.
