They also couldn't just leave the house and move somewhere else, because it was not the house that is cursed, but Katie. Micah practices playing the guitar, Katie her spanish. Content-wise, the scene added nothing, but showed their normal life for a short time. Content-wise almost identical, with the same sound track.
This is slightly longer. Micah tries to convince the two to watch one of his recordings. For fun, Micah asks what else the demon has got. Her father neglects that - there was no possible way anything could have been saved. Therefore, the photograph shouldn't exist at all. This scene clarifies the physical impact of the haunting. Incidentally Katie mentions she cannot successfully complete this year's term.
In the theatrical version, though, both agree to do something together. The original scene is three seconds shorter. For the theatrical version, it was strongly cut and darkened - single reactions of Micah and Katie were used as some sort of voice-over commentary.
All the other movies that have been done like this Blair Witch Project, Quarantine have all ended with one last thing to make you jump. To me this ending is more realistic which makes it more scary. Yeah your actually wrong. So just thought i would give my opinion of it, please do not speak so sure of yourself as it is only your opinion on the film and you shouldnt really give people false information.
In my opinion the light only went on to attract the viewer to the back room because when the pigs go upstairs and katie approaches them the back room door slams shut then the police fire.
I believe the demon did this to cause the police to shoot. And I half expected something to happen to the cops as they entered that back room as well, but nothing happened. Thanks for the comment, I edited the synopsis of the original ending above to reflect this new information that I apparently missed. I think it was what actually caused him to fire, since the slam is audible and probably freaked the dude out given the circumstances.
I believe this noise was also what drew them toward the back room to investigate. Maybe the demon wanted Katie to die because he was done using her? For what, though?
What was so important about Micah? Was he going to cure cancer in the next 20 years or something? Actually I did like the original ending a lot cause left me thinking and asking more of it. Anyways, as you recall the reason the demon was haunting Katie its cause it wants her. Also, after watching it over and over again, in the original ending someone actually shot Katie from the room where the light went on and off.
I watched the original ending which i thought was good but i have been hearing of the theatrical ending shown only in theaters duh … but i would like to watch it if anybody does have a link that allows people to watch it without having to fill out surveys and is free i would appreciate it if they sent it to my email or post the link here so i can pass it on … this was a really frightening movie kinda raises eyebrows on wether things do happen of this nature… laperica yahoo.
When I watch a movie I want to be scared, hear sounds and jump when my cat darts into the room. The theatrical ending only served to scare the viewer for a few moments. The intended ending however was powerful. What does that mean? Majic: So what was the 3rd ending you saw? I agree with Denise i want to watch the theatrical version and i cannot find it anywhere. I much prefered the original ending with the cops. Absolutely fantastic film thoughout. Apparantly there was ideas for an ending where Micah is bludgeoned to death by the camera? Leave the ending be! Same thing happens: she goes downstairs, screams, Micah goes running.
They scream then it goes silent. After a bit Katie then walks upstairs and into the room with blood on her tank top, while carrying a knife. She looks into the camera, takes the knife and slits her throat. Because i knew there was at least 1 altenative ending in the most recent release i had to find it just to see, so i did it can be found on youtube for you guys who are asking , and although i think the new ending does work for the shock value as ME describes i also think that i am glad i saw the original 1st as it fits the films pace and tempo and , more to the point , the depiction of a real life encounter as this film is supposed to portray.
Also the new ending only exists for the very reaction that those 4 teenage boys gave, shock , pure hollywood , a talking point , but you will find that that will be the ONLY part of the film they will mention. I just saw it tonight. She hates it, but secretly gets a kick out of it I think.
But with this film, I have spent the last 2 hours since the cinema getting even more and more freaked out about it. A lot of that is down to the ending….

Not all of you agree with that sentiment, though, so maybe you'll have a better opinion of the original ending to Paranormal Activity , or perhaps the alternate endings which were shot after Paramount acquired the film : " Katie Myers " -- The original ending to Paranormal Activity supposedly had Micah running downstairs to save Katie, sounds of a scuffle, followed by Katie entranced returning to the bedroom covered in blood, with bloody knife in hand.
Katie then proceeds to sit on the floor rocking backing forth for days on end see header image ; her girlfriend from earlier scenes leaves an answering machine message inquiring where the couple is, eventually stops by and discovers Micah dead. The police rush in and find Katie, who snaps out of her trance, only to be gunned down by the cops when she freaks out on them.
The credits dedicate the film to couple, sustaining the "real-life" atmosphere of the movie. In this alternate climax, Micah rushes downstairs, gets stabbed to death, and Katie returns to the bedroom with the knife and proceeds to slit her own throat in front of the camera.
